Some of my favorite suppliers for natural ingredients-
From Nature With Love-http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/
Mountain Rose Herbs-http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/
Aura Cacia Essential Oils-https://www.auracacia.com/auracacia/acproducts.html
Tropic Isle Living Jamaican Black Castor Oil-available in health food stores, Amazon or http://tropicisleliving.com
Flaxseeds-I use Bob's Red Mill,http://www.bobsredmill.com/brown-flaxseeds.html-I can find a 1lb bag for under $2.99 at my local health food store. You can use flaxseeds to make your own hair gel, & you also use the seeds in food recipes.
Extra Virgin Coconut Oil-this is what heaven must smell like, tropical yummy goodness-a head-to-toe moisturizer-you can also use it to cook with. I like Nutiva Brand,http://nutiva.com/products/coconut-oil-organic-benefits-nutiva/.
Jamaican Black Castor Oil- is excellent for those of us with type 4 Hair. Here's a great link on type 4 hair, In the picture above, I lightly mist my hair with water or my Moisture Mist and part in in 4-8 sections. I apply JBCO to each section and braid or 2 strand twists. Next I cover my head in a satin scarf. In morning, I untwist- & finger comb & shake out my twists. This oil is great to shine & define your hair or twists as well. You can purchase JBCO in health food stores, beauty supply stores or online. I prefer the Tropic Isle Living brand.
Jojoba Oil-Jojoba Oil is actually a liquid wax. It's great on skin & hair. Jojoba Oil is lightweight & non-greasy. "It supplies the skin with adequate moisture without blocking the skin pores. It is suitable for all types of skin." It balances normal, dry & oily skin. It provides a smooth, soft, silky texture to hair & skin.
Organic Palm Oil- It provides sheen, seals in moisture, reduces hair breakage, softens hair and detangles hair. It contains a high amount of vitamin E.
Lemon, Lavender, Ylang Ylang & Rosemary Essential Oils-Lemon, Lavender, Ylang Ylang and Rosemary Essential Oils are wonderful on oily, dry & normal hair/skin types. These are some of the best oils for hair & skin and are relatively inexpensive. Lemon Essential Oil balances the natural oils in the scalp and controls dandruff. Lavender helps to promote growth and healthy hair and blends well with other essential oils. Rosemary stimulates the scalp, it great for scalp massages to encourage growth. Tropical Ylang ylang oil aids all hair types, encourages hair growth and is a natural hair conditioner. Essential oils must be mixed with carrier oils, never use essentials oils directly on skin.
Flaxseed Gel-Flaxseeds and Flaxseed Oil are rich in Omega oils. Flaxseeds promote healthy hair growth, moisturize dry hair & scalp and can be made into a great hair gel. I use about 1/4 cup seeds to1 -2 cups water, but you can play around with proportions depending on how thick or thin gel you want. Place water & seeds in a pot & simmer until thick, strain seeds. Store in a plastic bottle in the frig.
